Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Prior to founding The Climate Conservancy, Dr. Davis received his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in Charlottesville, Virginia and was an associate for several years with the Silicon Valley law firm of Gray, Cary, Ware and Freidenrich, LLP (now DLA Piper) where he specialized in mergers/acquisitions and venture capital financings. Jumping fields in 2004, he took his liberal arts background to graduate school at Stanford University, where he earned his Doctorate in earth science and environmental geochemistry. He is now a postdoctoral researcher in the Stanford-based Department of Global Ecology of the Carnegie Institution of Washington, where he is modeling the economic drivers of climate change, quantifying the inertia of climate change, and evaluating the gamut of proposed strategies for combating climate change. Dr. Davis holds an B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Florida. Given free time, he enjoys backpacking very long distances, fly fishing, and making a dobro whine.

Mr. Sweeney is a researcher in Stanford University's Environmental Measurements Lab II, where he is pursuing a Master's degree in Geological and Environmental Science and specializing in measuring continental climate change. He has worked as a lab tech in a similar laboratory for Dartmouth College in the past, as well as as a teacher and researcher in Yellowstone National Park. Prior to coming to Stanford in 2006, Mr. Sweeney also spent several years as a database administrator and web administrator for ESI International, a project management training company. Mr. Sweeney holds an B.S. in Environmental Earth Science from Dartmouth College. He spends his free time playing music, cooking, and reading.

Mr. Rothe is currently Director of Operations at Attune Foods, a venture-backed start-up which maufactures probiotic-enhanced wellness bars. Having been raised on a Colorado farm, Mr. Rothe has always taken an interest in the links between farm and fork (or combustion engine). Mr. Rothe received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in May 2007, where in the course of a a summer internship, he launched and secured seed capital for Community Biodiesel, Inc. Prior to attending business school, he held the position of Director of Operations for Niman Ranch, Inc., an entrepreneurial, venture-backed natural food company that supports small family agriculture. Mr. Rothe holds an B.S. in Environmental Earth Science from Dartmouth College. In his free time, he enjoys reading, fly fishing, trail running and cooking. |

Mr. Rothe is a graduate researcher in the Environmental Science and Engineering Department of the Colorado School of Mines. His doctoral dissertation involves innovative on-site wastewater treatment and the biological recycling of organic wastes into useful feedstocks.

Ms. Mattos is a graduate student researcher in the Physics Department at Stanford University, working in the field of nanotechnology and scanning probe microscopy. She is interested in new alternative energy solutions and in reducing the impact of existing technologies on the environment. She also enjoys photography, music and cooking.

Dr. Davis earned her doctorate in the Environmental Fluid Mechanics Laboratory of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Stanford University and is now a postdoctoral scholar at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Prior to entering graduate school, Ms. Davis worked with the W. Alton Jones Foundation assisting the director with research on anthropogenic contaminants linked to endocrine disruption as well as other environmental initiatives.

Ms. Gonzales graduated with a B.S. in Earth Systems Science at Stanford University in 2008, and is now pursuing her Master's from the same program.
